If you’ve ever played DOOM, you can imagine my surprise when I finally sat down and started playing. Essentially I thought the people who insisted on continuing to bring up DOOM, were just blinded by nostalgia – there’s no way a game over 25 years old could really be that good, right? When I would hear about DOOM being one of the first fps games, all I could think was, ‘huh that’s cool. When I was three Quake came out, the game that shaped first person shooters for decades to come. So, by the time I even knew what a “DOOM” was, the industry had moved on. Officially released December 10, 1993, 8 days before I was born. This month I was inspired to play DOOM, championed as one of the best First Person Shooter games while also being one of the first ever in the genre.
